What I’m Watching: The Flash

The Flash: Season 5, Episode 18 “Godspeed” (B)

It’s possible that I missed something in this hour, but I didn’t grasp why it was that Nora decided immediately that she would be able to trust Eobard. He helped her, sure, but, as far as I could tell, he didn’t do anything that demonstrated a willingness to do good other than to encourage her when no one else would. I knew as soon as we met Lia that she wouldn’t be long for this world since she was the only true confidante for Nora, and evidently her relationship with Iris had deteriorated so much by that point that she wasn’t even willing to ask her any questions aside from accusations about what she kept from her. Nora not knowing that Barry was the Flash was an unexpected development, and presumably Barry always planned it that way since he left that video for her to find. Everyone seemed to accept Nora’s story once she told it, which made Barry telling Nora that he couldn’t have her around because he couldn’t trust her all the more jarring. With the future Cicada still out there, it hardly seems like the time to cast aside allies. Hopefully Barry coming face-to-face with Eobard in the future will prove helpful, and I’m not sure if I’ve forgotten the circumstances under which he ended up in prison facing impending execution since that may well have happened on “Legends of Tomorrow” where he conveniently wore the face of a different actor, which just adds to the confusion.
