Round Two: We Hunt Together

We Hunt Together: Season 1, Episode 2 (B+)

I was very intrigued by the first episode of this show and wanted to keep watching, and I’m trying to get a read on exactly where this show is going. I compared it before to “Killing Eve” but didn’t realize that it was going to take so little time for Lola and Jackson to show up at Freddy’s tour and catch on to the fact that her story was just a bit too well-prepared. She was enjoying the thrill of waiting for the knock at the door, and it was pretty incredible to see her recount what happened in a way that made her mention of Matt feel completely casual and urgent at the same time. I thought that Jackson was going to see Baba hiding in the closet, but instead he just listened carefully to everything he said. He was astounded by her use of “Zarathustra” and particularly by the fact that she enjoyed the intellectual dominance she had over the men who didn’t even understand the reference they were missing. Questioning her assertion that intelligence isn’t something that people have control over means that he’s going to be analyzing everything she said and everything she does going forward while Lola takes a different approach, one that’s not as patient and also minimizes the overall suffering, like with the purchase of a mouse trap over a cat to chase and then eat the mice. Freddy and Baba taking out Matt in a very public way is sure to attract more attention, but I have a feeling that Freddy might relish that even if it makes her more vulnerable.
