What I’m Watching: New Girl

New Girl: Season 2, Episode 10 “Bathtub” (B+)

This was a very fun episode, starting off with the negative reaction of the male roommates to Jess’ suggestion of a bathtub. Schmidt classifying them as medieval filth cauldrons and insulting rose wine was amusing, as tends to be the case with most of his over-the-top comments. Winston’s secret love for bathtubs prompted a hilarious effort first to self-install and then to fake a robbery by a hapless Winston and Jess, doing their best to think like methheads. It’s nice to see Jess and Winston getting some good bonding time during their adventures. Their ultimate decision to tie themselves up and return all of the suits, completely dry-cleaned, was pretty terrific. Schmidt noting that the methheads were typical for taking his suits but leaving the douche jar was fantastic. The notion of vitamin vodka is fairly horrifying, but Schmidt and Emma would be the ones to be able to sell it. It’s too bad that Cece wasn’t moved by his honest confession of love and his surprising willingness to have kids. Bringing her a pigeon instead of a dove wasn’t the best part, and it’s going to be tough for him to watch her date whoever her mom sets her up with after breaking up with Robbie. Nick found himself quite the match in Thirty Mendelson, better known as Angie, who actually is a stripper and doesn’t operate by any particular set of rules. Climbing on top of his social barrier to kiss him is quite bold, and I suspect that she’s going to be trouble.
