What I’m Watching: Supergirl

Supergirl: Season 2, Episode 8 “Medusa” (B+)

We knew that the real Hank was up to something villainous when he used Kara’s blood to gain entry into the Fortress of Solitude, and unleashing a deadly virus designed to kill every race but Kryptonians definitely fit that bill. This was an important episode to determine who Lena Luthor is in the grand scheme of things, and after she reacted negatively to Kara making accusations about her mother, she did the right thing and engineered the virus so that it wouldn’t do any harm and even got her mother arrested. There were a lot of eventual positive developments in this episode, like Kara and Alex’s mom finding a cure for Hank’s whitening condition and Maggie showing up to plant one hell of a kiss on Alex and let her know that she may in fact have feelings for her. Kara also had a fun time flirting with Mon-El while she was sitting on the floor playing games with him while he was in containment, and it seems that he does remember that kiss even if he’s playing dumb and pretending to be amnesiac. While all this is great, I’m much more excited about the end of the episode, which explained those breaches we’d been seeing and featured none other than Barry Allen and Cisco Ramone showing up to ask Kara for her help. “To be continued on The Flash” was about the greatest campiest way that this episode could have ended, and I’m pumped for the four-show crossover that’s been promised and will play out over the course of my next few TV days.
