What I’m Watching: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: Season 3, Episode 10 “Oh Nathaniel, It’s On!” (B+)

What Rebecca is doing at the moment definitely isn’t healthy or good for her, but it’s not as if everyone in her life isn’t completely aware of what she’s up to, except for the one person who would definitely object – her doctor. Villainizing Nathaniel as evil because he moved on from their relationship, which she ended, immediately isn’t really fair or logical, but we should remember that he was a totally awful boss when he took over and it was because of their antagonistic relationship that he and Rebecca became attracted to each other. I’m not sure what Rebecca thought setting up a desk right across from him in his office would do other than to propel them back to a sexual relationship, and now they’re going to have to deal with the lying to his new girlfriend, unless that romance really was bolstered by his own posturing and not actually established. I like that Rebecca called BJ Novak to ask him for money, to which he responded that his ecstasy lab wasn’t doing all that well, and that she also tried Dr. Phil, who she truthfully didn’t know. The horizontal tango dance bit was clever and a strong musical highlight of the hour. Heather going in for management training had some surprising results, including a lackluster role for Matt Walsh from “Veep,” and I’m curious to see how things will go for her now that she’s asked Hector to move in and offered rather casually to be the surrogate for Darryl’s baby.
