The Good Place: Season 2, Episode 13 “Somewhere Else” (B+)
It’s always so sad to me how quickly seasons of this show fly by since they’re only thirteen episodes long, but at least we know that it’s well-regarded and already slated to come back for season three. We couldn’t have expected that the ending to this season would be as shocking as season one’s, but we did get a reboot of sorts that could prove interesting. You’d think that the memory processing power of these four humans would be severely impacted by their many reboots, and that their developed but forgotten inherent goodness would also affect how they acted in situations. Fortunately, Michael and the judge had a good rapport, and she was more than open to taking a month to twenty million years to review their case and determine if they really had become better people. Janet telling Jason she loved him and Chidi kissing Eleanor were important moments, and I would have argued that Chidi making the decision to go for it would have gotten him out of the bad place for good since he actually made a choice for once. I’m not all that excited to see Eleanor or each of the other three’s lives play out since they’re better together than individually, but it is appealing to watch Eleanor become a better person and seek Chidi out thanks to Michael’s subtle interference. This season was simply superb and this show continues to be underrated, so with that I can only imagine season three will be just as fun and enjoyable when it premieres many months from now.
