Modern Family: Season 6, Episode 17 “Closet? You’ll Love It!” (C)
Pretty much everything about Jay’s closet business has always felt archaic, and the idea of seeing him in an ad where he utters a catchphrase whose origins or meanings just don’t really make that much sense is hardly a surprise. I enjoyed the fact that the bevy of bad suggestions by his family members was befuddling to him because he couldn’t choose between any of them since he thought they were all so good. Cam and Mitchell being overenthusiastic parents incapable of showing how they feel about something is nothing new, particularly as they both try to resolve the issues differently, with Cam attempting to distract Lily from actually having the opportunity to perform and Mitchell trying to find a less manipulative solution that allows her to pursue what she wants. Competition is always a good solution, and seeing a rival child leave gave them the perfect out. I’m all for a number of Phil and Luke’s adventures, and fighting to take down a snooping drone was far from the best of them. Jay joining in at the end was sweet, but it was much too late to make that storyline worthwhile. Though it’s hard to find entirely believable, I do like the idea of Haley and Andy as a couple, an inevitability this show seems headed towards on a regular basis. Beth materializing just when Haley finally voiced her feelings for him, thinking he was unconscious, was a cruel but fitting twist of fate. I’m sure that romance is ready to get started almost right away, and I hope it won’t take too long for it to turn into something.
