Big Sky: Season 1, Episode 3 “The Big Rick” (B-)
It seemed inevitable that one of the women would escape and then get recaptured again, and it doesn’t feel like all that much is being accomplished aside from Jenny and Cassie concluding that their investigation should be squarely focused on Rick, which may lead them to the exact right place. The church wasn’t too helpful, and Jenny and Cassie will need to be subtle about their latest investigation if they want to get anywhere without tipping off the wrong people. Rick responds intensely to pressure, and he knew just where to shoot that arrow to kill the fisherman and then ensure that Grace wouldn’t get away. It might have made more sense for him to just tell the fisherman he’d bring her to safety and then instead take her right back to where Danielle and Jerrie were being held, but he doesn’t seem to mind disposing of people he doesn’t believe will be missed. Showing his face to Danielle and Jerrie indicates that he has no plans for them to survive, and abandoning the site isn’t necessarily a smart plan since we know they’ll escape and at the very least be eventually discovered. It would also be a good idea to put the same effort into patching up Grace’s leg as is being invested by Ronald into patching up the compartment. I’m curious if Helen is going to end up sounding the alarm because she knows that her son is involved in something, but I suspect her loyalty to her son is going to lead to her protecting him at all costs instead.
