Emmy Nominees: Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series

My predictions: 1/6, picking only Harris

Well, I didn’t do too well in this category. Big name guest star Neil Patrick Harris is joined by more serious understanding dad Mike O’Malley, representing the wildly popular “Glee,” which earned a grand total of 19 nominations this year. Fred Willard was fun on “Modern Family,” but he’s done better work, most notably his thrice-nominated-in-this-category recurring role on “Everybody Loves Raymond.” I haven’t seen 94-year-old Eli Wallach’s performance on “Nurse Jackie,” but I plan to watch it soon. The choices for “30 Rock” men seem strange and dated, considering both of them have been nominated in past years and I very much expected Hamm to be included for his SNL hosting job. But looking at their submitted episodes, I remember cracking up during each of Jon Hamm and Will Arnett’s brief scenes, and therefore I’m happy about them being here. I’ll address their specific hilarious scenes in my winner predictions in August.

Who should win? Harris
Who will win? This seems like the perfect way to finally give Harris an Emmy since he likely won’t be able to beat three “Modern Family” men this year.
