What I’m Watching: The Killing

The Killing: Season 3, Episode 6 “Eminent Domain” (B+)

Finally, after several episodes of expressing just how little she cares about the wellbeing of her daughter, Danette wised up to the fact that there is something seriously wrong. She wasn’t exactly rewarded for her efforts, of course, as she was promptly arrested after her unproductive visit to the police station, and Linden wasn’t kind with her when they were talking about finding Joe Mills. Linden isn’t trying to please anyone these days, firing rude comments at Carl and even lashing out at Holder. It’s no surprise that she got into trouble for having approached Seward’s son, and going to see Seward produced equally icy and angry results. Seward continues to be a fascinating character, so cold and manipulative of those around him but also capable of emotion, as evidenced by his meeting with his father, who is even more despicable and unlikeable. Holder’s visit to a bad part of town with Linden and Bullet seems to have reminded him that he used to love dressing in his hoodie and the rest of his street clothes ensemble, which led to Carl calling him homeless. What I love most about Holder is, of course, when he starts talking about something intellectual, like Copernicus, to which his esteemed partner Linden never responds well. Bullet didn’t respond warmly to Danette approaching her for help in looking for Kallie, but it’s probably for the best that at least someone is focused on finding her given how distracted Linden is with Seward and her guilty conscience.
