What I’m Watching: Space Force

Space Force: Season 2, Episode 7 “Edison Jaymes” (B+)

I think this was the strongest and funniest episode yet. I was very happy with the two guest stars, who I’ve enjoyed in other projects. Kaitlin Olson is best known for “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” and I recently enjoyed her turns in the film “Arizona” and in a few episodes of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Janina Gavankar has appeared in a number of shows including “True Blood” and “The Morning Show.” As the illustrious and allegedly accomplished Edison Jaymes and her right hand woman Hannah Howard, they were both great and helped to illustrate how attempting to create a lot of prestige and fuss around something doesn’t necessarily make it actually work. Adrian was initially in awe of Edison but then quickly realized that she had no clue what she was talking about, and in an unusual development, it was Tony who, thanks to his preexisting rivalry with Hannah, came to warn Mark about the fact that the fuel didn’t work. Mark’s response truly was impressive, taking care not to embarrass Edison and making sure that he could continue with some autonomy as a result. I like the pairing of Chan and Angela, whose tutoring sessions were quite entertaining. Duncan did help Erin out of a literal mess, but I love how quickly his new habit of reading to impress turned into his having read and fully digested some of the most outrageous conspiracy theories out there. At least he’s a nice guy – maybe there’s still a chance for them!
