Emmy Nominees: Best Writing for a Drama Series

My predictions: 3/5, picking a third “Mad Men” episode and another “Lost” episode over “Friday Nights Lights” and “The Good Wife

The nominees:
“Friday Night Lights” (The Son)
“The Good Wife” (Pilot)
“Lost” (The End)
“Mad Men” (Guy Walks Into An Advertising Agency)
“Mad Men” (Shut the Door, Have a Seat)

Even though “Lost” and “Mad Men” are both great shows, it’s nice to see some other series represented here. The two nominated episodes of “Mad Men” are both terrific, and put the “Lost” finale in the same category as the finale of “The Sopranos” – doesn’t really belong here but should serve more as a tribute to the legacy of the show. I erroneously placed the pilot of “The Good Wife” in the directing category instead of here. And then we have “Friday Night Lights,” which broke through this year with nominations for its two lead actors. I’ve heard great things about “The Son,” and though I don’t watch the show, I know that this inclusion made a lot of people very, very happy.

Who should win? “Shut the Door, Have a Seat”
Who will win? It could be the “Lost” finale or “The Good Wife,” but I think it’s going to have to go to the spectacular “Mad Men” season ender.

"The Son" is an amazing episode. Depressing, but amazing. I'm very surprised (and pleased) by how much love "FNL" got this year.

Note: The Emmys are still a joke.
