Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Actor in a TV Series - Drama

The competition: Steve Buscemi’s Atlantic City gangster (Boardwalk Empire), Bryan Cranston’s meth cooker (Breaking Bad), Michael C. Hall’s kind-hearted serial killer (Dexter), Jon Hamm’s promiscuous ad man (Mad Men), and Hugh Laurie’s quirky doctor (House).

For your information: Laurie won this award in 2005 and 2006 and has been nominated every year since then. Hamm won in 2007, and Hall won last year. This is the first nomination for Cranston, who has taken home three Emmys in a row, and Buscemi joins the race for his freshman series.

Who should win: Cranston, Hall, or Hamm. They’re all just as excellent. Probably Cranston for his best season yet.

Who will win: It’s a tough call between the outright fresh – Buscemi – and fresh for the Globes – Cranston. Often Globe voters like to mimic Emmy outcomes, but I’ll stick put my money on Buscemi.
