Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Television Series

The competition: Scott Caan’s sarcastic cop (Hawaii Five-0), Chris Colfer’s individualistic high school performer (Glee), Chris Noth’s disgraced politician (The Good Wife), Eric Stonestreet’s flamboyant stay-at-home dad (Modern Family), and David Strathairn’s professor (Temple Grandin).

For your information: None of these performers have been nominated for these role before. Noth was last nominated for “Sex in the City” back in 1999, another show on which he was not a series regular. Strathairn was nominated in 2005 for his starring role in the film “Good Night and Good Luck.” This is the first nomination for the other three. Stonestreet and Strathairn won Emmys for these performances in August, and Colfer was a nominee. Historically speaking, it’s rare for a miniseries or TV movie supporting star not to win if one is nominated.

Who should win: Stonestreet

Who will win: One of the Emmy winners – my guess would be Stonestreet.
