Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Actress in a Mini-Series or Made-for-TV Movie

The competition: Hayley Atwell’s noblewoman (The Pillars of the Earth), Claire Danes’ Temple Grandin (Temple Grandin), Judi Dench’s spinster (Return to Cranford), Romola Garai’s Emma Woodhouse (Emma), and Jennifer Love Hewitt’s prostitute (The Client List).

For your information: This is Dench’s ninth career nomination. Of her two TV nods, the last of which was for the first “Cranford,” she won in 2000 in this category for “The Last of the Blonde Bombshells.” Danes won a Golden Globe back in 1994 for her starring role in the TV series “My So-Called Life.” This is the first nomination for Atwell, Garai, and Hewitt.

Who should win: Sadly, I’ve seen none of these nominated performances.

Who will win: It’s not wise to bet against Danes and “Temple Grandin.”
