What I’m Watching: The Flash

The Flash: Season 1, Episode 12 “Crazy For You” (B-)

This episode didn’t do much for me, not a sign that the show is getting bad but merely that this was far from its most exciting installment. Starting with Barry rushing to save someone and then get thanked by the couple that he pulled out of a car seconds before it exploded put things in a positive light, and Barry’s father putting together the pieces that Barry is the flash and thanking him in his own way was sweet too. But something just didn’t feel as dramatic, especially with Cisco out with Hartley and the news about Ronnie having merged with someone else during the explosion. Seeing Caitlin put on a dress and try to be social was an experience, and I think the idea of her and Barry as a couple is a promising idea personally but not so much in terms of their working together and the way that her previous relationship ended. Iris certainly was not pleased to see Barry about to go out on a date with one of her coworkers, though she shouldn’t be jealous given the fact that she still moved in with Eddie after Barry confessed his love for her. Shawna wasn’t a terrific metahuman, able to teleport but only if she can see where she is going. I feel like it should have taken much less time to be able to stop her, and she doesn’t strike me as nearly as malicious as most of the bad guys locked up in the basement of Star Labs.
