The competition: Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, Homeland, The Newsroom
For your information: Only two of these shows have been nominated in this category before, and they’re the past two winners. Homeland won last year for its freshman season, and Boardwalk Empire the year before that. Downton Abbey was awarded the Best Miniseries or TV Movie trophy last year and now competes here for its second season. The Newsroom is in its first year on HBO. In most instances, this award has gone to a freshman series or, in the case of the now-snubbed “Mad Men,” a repeat winner. All of these series have performers nominated.
Who should win? All excellent choices, honestly. It’s tough to pick – probably “Boardwalk Empire,” “Homeland,” or “The Newsroom.”
Who will win? So much popular stuff, but I’ll guess The Newsroom.
