Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Actor in a TV Series – Comedy/Musical

The competition: Alec Baldwin’s TV executive (30 Rock), Don Cheadle’s soulless management consultant (House of Lies), Louis C.K.’s wry comedian (Louie), Matt LeBlanc’s parodied version of himself (Episodes), and Jim Parsons’ stuck-up scientist (The Big Bang Theory).

For your information: The past three winners in this category have been LeBlanc, Parsons, and Baldwin. LeBlanc is back for year number two of his show, Parsons returns for his second nomination after being snubbed last year, and three-time winner Alec Baldwin is on his seventh consecutive nomination. This is the first citation for C.K., whose show is now in its fifth season. Cheadle, who stars on a freshman series, has been nominated before for a film Globe and picked up a prize for his supporting performance in the TV movie “The Rat Pack” in 1998.

Who should win? Cheadle or LeBlanc

Who will win? It seems likely that it would be a newbie, and I’ll bet on Cheadle over C.K., based on Globe voters’ historic preferences.
