iZombie: Season 2, Episode 6 “Max Wager” (B+)
It is quite a sight to see both Liv and Major so happy, and watching Peyton and Ravi digest it is just as great. Having them run into Clive and Dale was a nice treat too. They’ve managed to get around the problem of not being able to be physical with each other, but the much greater issue is the fact that Major is hiding a secret part of his life, one that involves him murdering other zombies in cold blood on a nightly basis. This episode involved an interesting progression and intersection of plotlines, one that puts Major in even greater danger of being discovered by a different threatening party. Angus taking over the funeral home was an intense power move, and Blaine didn’t waste any time in setting his father up for failure. He never got the chance to rub it in his face since Major offed him, and while Blaine should sit back and relax now that he’s out of his life, I doubt he’ll do that. Blaine’s conversation with Liv about the perks of being a zombie was quite enlightening. I liked seeing Clive get so flabbergasted around Rick Fox’s basketball star, and he clicked pretty well with Liv’s gambler brains. I easily recognized Eddie Jemison’s voice without seeing his face in the barber’s chair, and that was quite the threatening conversation he had with Peyton. Setting so much of this hour in the barbershop was very effective, and Steven Williams’ barber was a strong part of this episode. Only after seeing his name did I realize that he was the famous Mr. X on "The X-Files" two decades ago.
