Only Murders in the Building: Season 2, Episode 3 “The Last Day of Bunny Folger” (B+)
This was a very informative episode, one that still didn’t tell us who the killer was but did show us how Bunny saw things on her last day…as board president, and also alive. Opening with Oliver and Charles trying to mimic her voice to get the parrot to talk was entertaining, though of course we later found out that he was merely quoting a line from the movie they were watching together. Thinking about moving to Florida and over-tipping her regular waiter with a ton of cash were signs that she knew some change was coming, but it was more related to her putting on that official merch and considering what might come next for her. When she stopped to yell at our three podcasters since their unpermitted group gathering was in violation of policy, she got the best affirmation she could have wanted from Nina, who knew the rules just as thoroughly as she did. That perfect heir, however, had other ideas which came out during the surprise party that was thrown for her where she revealed that she didn’t want to step down, a change Nina was not willing to tolerate since she had worked so hard for this and wanted to push the building into the next century. Charles, Oliver, and Mabel got to consider whether they should have been nicer to Bunny and only opted to invite her in after she was gone and already being murdered, showing once again that it’s fascinating to look at the same story from a different angle to get a truly telling perspective.
