Last year’s nominees: I May Destroy You, Mare of Easttown, The Queen’s Gambit, The Underground Railroad, WandaVision
The competition: This category has some high-profile contenders, led by Dopesick, The White Lotus, MAID, and The Staircase. The fifth slot probably goes to Under the Banner of Heaven or The Dropout, but there’s also The Offer, Gaslit, Inventing Anna, Pam and Tommy, Scenes from a Marriage, and WeCrashed, which will surely garner votes. The previous installment of A Very British Scandal netted a nomination in this category a few years ago, and the same goes for Impeachment: American Crime Story. Fan enthusiasm for Midnight Mass and Station Eleven might propel those two genre series to a nomination, and I’d love to see Conversations with Friends and The Shrink Next Door make the cut, but I don’t have too much confidence in their chances.

The predicted winner: I think it will be Dopesick, but this is a competitive category.
