The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations will be announced on Tuesday, July 12th. As always, chime in below in the comments with any thoughts of your own.
Last year’s nominees: Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Daveed Diggs, Paapa Essiedu, Jonathan Groff, Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos
The competition: There are many men in contention in this race, and it’s a question of if several shows will be popular enough to dominate this category. Naveen Andrews (The Dropout) is likeliest from his cast, but Stephen Fry (The Dropout) and William H. Macy (The Dropout) could easily join him. Similarly, Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus) is out front from his show, but Steve Zahn (The White Lotus) and Jake Lacy (The White Lotus) could be cited too. Matthew Goode (The Offer), Dan Fogler (The Offer), Patrick Gallo (The Offer), Justin Chambers (The Offer), Burn Gorman (The Offer), and Giovanni Ribisi (The Offer), could all garner votes, as could Michael Stuhlbarg (Dopesick) and Peter Sarsgaard (Dopesick), and Shea Whigham (Gaslit) and Dan Stevens (Gaslit). Presidential performances from O-T Fagbenle (The First Lady), Kiefer Sutherland (The First Lady), and Aaron Eckhart (The First Lady) may get recognition, as could key supporting players like Arian Moayed (Inventing anna), Nick Robinson (Maid), Seth Rogen (Pam and Tommy), and Christian Slater (Dr. Death). Other potential options include Wyatt Russell (Under the Banner of Heaven), Sam Worthington (Under the Banner of Heaven), Josh Charles (We Own This City), Danny DeVito (The Survivor), Clive Owen (Impeachment: American Crime Story), and Pablo Schreiber (Candy).
The predicted nominees: Andrews, Bartlett, Fagbenle, Goode, Gorma, Whigham, Zahn
The predicted winner: I think this could go to Bartlett.
Next up: Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie
