What I’m Watching: Physical

Physical: Season 2, Episode 6 “Don’t You Have Enough” (B+)

For all the things Sheila has to worry about, Danny actually starting to realize what’s going on with her eating disorder wasn’t supposed to be one of them. Maya telling him that she once ate thirty hamburgers prompted him to start doing some reading on bulimia, and now he’s bringing up her food control issues when he notices that she isn’t eating anything all night. She reacted in a harsh and entirely defensive way, even though him knowing about that wasn’t quite as bad as him finding out about her frequent motel rendezvous with Breem. His solo scenes are quite entertaining even if they are decidedly peculiar, like his multiple questions about happy hour, and it’s definitely not going to be a good thing that he missed the birth of his child because he was trying to negotiate a new life with Sheila. Everyone has their idea of how they want to live their life, and though Danny and Sheila were quite unusually on the exact same page about not wanting to have a foursome, Ernie was truly supporting Sheila since he knew it was important to her and that she might have had expectations. Though this blackmail saga is surely not over, I did enjoy that, upon the swap of the tape and the money, Tyler instinctively echoed Sheila’s good luck wishes, which he promptly rescinded when Bunny reminded him that they’re not supposed to be on the same side anymore despite their history of friendship that started this all.
