What I’m Watching: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: Season 3, Episode 17 “The Team” (B)

This was a very action-oriented episode, starting with Daisy and Lincoln calling in reinforcements in the form of Joey and Yo-Yo, who showed up to be helpful and save the day, successfully rescuing all their teammates who were under siege. Seeing Daisy as the commander of her own team was cool, and they were an effective inhuman group using their powers to fight evil. When Coulson and crew realized that one of the inhumans had been infected by Hive, it started to seem like they were singling out the “other” and egging them on to revolt against them. Lincoln is too honest to have been the culprit, and that made the ultimate reveal that Daisy was the one who did it and was smart enough to frame Lincoln while taking out Malick all the more intense and worrisome. Hive evidently knows about the connection that Ward had with Skye, and he’s going to use that for all it’s worth to ensure that he can manipulate events to his advantage as he redirects a $960 million fortune. Watching everything crumble around Daisy as she took off was very disconcerting, and the rescue effort that she organized when we thought she was still a good guy was all for nothing. Fitz and Simmons finally getting somewhere was a nice development, and I like that Yo-Yo and Mac are friends now after their first adversarial encounter a while back. Regardless of the fact that she was compelled by Hive to turn evil, Daisy being susceptive to his influence as an inhuman is sure to be a dividing force once she’s brought back to the good side, hopefully not after having done too much damage.
