What I’m Watching: iZombie

iZombie: Season 3, Episode 3 “Eat, Pray, Liv” (B+)

While I will admit that I definitely can’t relate to being a zombie, I was surprised - and intrigued - to learn something I didn’t expect to, which is that Major didn’t welcome the idea of eating these brain tubes that stopped all visions and personality traits from presenting themselves. He’s being accustomed - as have we as viewers - to experiencing those things, and their absence made him feel empty and purposeless, even though he did finally succeed at not getting shot in the head in a training simulation. He’s made a new friend, Justin, and they were able to enjoy some brains together, enabling them to have fun with Liv even when she wasn’t on the same diet. I enjoyed the fact that Liv almost took a sip of the almond chai latte she made for Ravi while accidentally giving him her drink, and then she just played it off as if it wasn’t a big deal. This was a major episode for Ravi, who made a passionate pitch for trying the cure, attempted to win Peyton back, and then screwed it all up by inviting the old boss he used to hate over just as Peyton decided to stop by and hear him out. I’m curious what Blaine is going to be like once he gets his memories back since he’s really a much nicer guy now, enjoying his life and signing back over millions over dollars to his father without a moment’s consideration. His father’s new operation is definitely going to pose a problem, and it couldn’t be worse timing given the public relations problem zombies are going to have without such vicious, murderous intent from some of the worst of them.
