What I’m Watching: You, Me, Her (Season Finale)

You, Me, Her: Season 2, Episode 10 “Baby, Baby Where Did Our Love Go?” (B+)

I know that one of the comments about sitcoms and procedurals is that they go on too long, and having to plan out twenty-two or so episodes every season leads to filler episodes that don’t have much value on their own. Cable shows that aired only ten or thirteen episodes were considered more likely to produce quality, and now it’s hard to distinguish between the two since any show, cable or broadcast, can run any number of episodes, including some series that only air six each season. What that leads to is a sense that it’s all happened way too quickly, and I’d love to spend a little more time on this show. That’s due in part to the fact that the ending of the ninth episode, with Jack proposing very romantically to Emma and Izzy to start a family together, was so wonderful and inspiring, and then we’re left with this, which isn’t nearly as neat. Season one finished with them racing to the airport to win Izzy back, and now we have another plane in sight as Emma, suddenly not so into the specific thing that she had argued that she wanted, was boarding a plane to go to Seattle to explore her future, potentially leaving Jack and Izzy, who are on the same page, behind. Nina and Andy are in good shape, Carmen and Dave are having fun, and Lori has even managed to become a human being and try to save her daughter from going down the same path she did, but our thruple is in serious trouble. I didn’t love this season as much as the first, but I am certainly still excited for season three.

Season grade: B+
Season MVP: Rachel Blanchard as Emma
