The Flash: Season 3, Episode 19 “The Once and Future Flash” (B)
Well, here’s one very grim picture of the future. It wasn’t difficult at all for Barry to run to the future, something he could probably do more often if he really wanted to change the outcome of events he knows are going to happen. It’s always a bit hard to understand what played out for things to end up how they did, and what we saw was a completely splintered group of people who used to constitute Team Flash, with not one of them happy except maybe for HR, who has always sort of been on his own plane. 2017 Barry inspiring 2024 Barry was a nice instance of enthusiasm and energy that the show could use, while Barry’s interaction with a caged Killer Frost, whose sinister dynamic hasn’t lost any of its fire – or perhaps chill as a more accurate descriptor – in the seven years since Iris’ death. Cisco was the one who was most up for the idea of Barry revitalizing everyone and presenting the first occurrence of positivity that anyone had seen in a while, and it was refreshing to at least see one person who, despite being particularly disheveled, hadn’t lost his sense of hope. What we really need to know is who Savitar is, since Caitlin was more than ready to do whatever he wanted as soon as he emerged from that suit. I don’t have any theories for who it could be, but I’m so incredibly curious. I imagine we’ll find out soon, but I’m not sure that it’s going to be in time for Barry and everyone to be able to save Iris.
