Grace and Frankie: Season 3, Episode 6 “The Pot” (B+)
It’s fun to see how Grace and Frankie each respond to such a divisive event as the gun getting in the way of their friendship, coping with what’s going on in their interactions with their children. Brianna had her own apologizing to do when she and Mallory showed up since Grace had reason to be angry with Frankie for lying to her about Brianna being the one to give them money, and fortunately that didn’t last too long. Mallory was incredibly relaxed and had fun bonding with her mother as Brianna got scared that their relationship was going to get way too friendly for what she wanted. Grace’s assertion that “the pot” didn’t affect her was contradicted at exactly the wrong time when it went into effect as Frankie showed up. All Bud was trying to do was take his relationship with Allison to the next level when Coyote and Frankie showed up to ruin the vibe, and he tried to be far subtle than Allison was when she asked a clear question about where their night was headed. Bud does have some issues separating from his family, but I think Allison having her therapist get on the phone with her boyfriend crossed a definitive line. Bud and Brianna are exploring new ideas of romance, and those should be able to continue now that their mothers have made up. Robert, on the other hand, has a lot of work to do to get over the speed bump in his marriage caused by his coming out to his mother, and I think that’s going to take a while.
