Big Sky: Season 1, Episode 7 “I Fall to Pieces” (C+)
Rick surviving a gunshot wound to the head and regaining consciousness almost right away is reminding me a lot of when an assassin shot into a car trunk on “Ringer” and somehow missed. I imagine that Rick is faking his memory loss and unfiltered nature in the same way that he used to put on an act as a faithful lawman, but it’s possible that he’s not, in which case he wouldn’t be all that accountable for his actions given his new mental capacity. It is a bit baffling to me how much this show does move forward in certain respects with its storylines, like Jenny and Cassie showing up to Merrilee’s door to show him a sketch of Ronald as he was not so subtly prowling around her house to find Rick’s secret dossier on him. I’m glad at least that she gave him up right away, but that’s partially because she’s accepted the notion of the men in her life being capable of terrible things, like how she asked the lawyer what the point was since she believed that Rick was clearly guilty. Grace and Danielle may be planning to go back to Colorado and never return to Montana, but that feels like an unlikely result given this show’s dark nature. His part wasn’t so big, but I was excited to see Alessandra Juliani from “Battlestar Galactica” as the doctor who nearly got his hand destroyed by Rick, who was all too eager and much more responsive than expected.
