Lost: Season 3, Episode 15 "Left Behind" (B+)
This episode is a refreshing return to the days when "Lost" was just a great show with a good deal of mystery and suspense but just enough answers to provide a satisfying episode. Kate's flashbacks have always been believable and the most intruiging, and though I am annoyed about the writers making yet another connection between the castaways (Kate has a history with the woman Sawyer conned), the incident is hardly brought up and it works well. The flashbacks also work wonders even though they do not contain any of the confrontation between Kate and her relentless federal pursuer, one of the great con-cop relationships on television in recent years. What occurs on the island is well-done too. Kate and Juliet play well off of each other, and the explanation about the black smoke monster is legitimate and admissable enough. Hurley's ability to maintain a positive outlook is once again exemplified as he tricks Sawyer into being nice to everyone, a nice touch for this return-to-form episode (next week doesn't look bad either).
