What I'm Watching: Traveler

Traveler: Season 1, Episode 9 "The Retreat" (F)

It is a sad day that a show which started out with a very intriguing premise and a subpar pilot plummeted so fast and so far. I am unsympathetic to any of the characters and cannot establish a legitimate connection with any of them. "Traveler" has a terrible government conspiracy a hundred times as convoluted and senseless as those on "Prison Break" and "Daybreak". It also boasts a pre-commercial stunt much liked the one used on "Prison Break" but far less clever. Logan Marshall-Green, as great driver but poor planner Tyler, should really consider comedy instead of drama since his performances on "Traveler", "24", and "The O.C." have really been far more comedic than serious, not in a good way. I always start watching shows like this, like "Daybreak", that are really not good and that I am not terribly interested in at all, but unfortunately I think I am in.

Important addition: I am beyond thrilled that Neal McDonough has been added to the cast as some higher-up in Homeland Security in on the conspiracy. For those unfamiliar with McDonough, he can be found in some dictionaries under "Role of a Lifetime" in conjunction with the short-lived 2002 NBC series "Boomtown".
