What I’m Watching: Ringer

Ringer: Season 1, Episode 12 “What Are You Doing Here, Ho-Bag?” (B-)

Now things are finally getting interesting. This show is teetering on the verge of absolute ridiculousness, but that’s making it enormously entertaining. Siobhan being in New York is fun because she constantly switches places with Bridget, her imitator, and the dialogue and scenarios are constructed so conveniently that no one ever suspects anything. Henry in particular, who makes certain to say Siobhan’s name at the end of his every thought, was so proud of himself for deducing that Siobhan was in fact Bridget, a fact that proved to be wholly incorrect. You have to hand it to Siobhan for pinning every bad thing she did on Bridget, and that’s not the only impressive thing she did. Pawning the ring Andrew gave to Bridget was a great way of inciting conflict between Bridget and Andrew, even if it didn’t work, and she chose just the right moment to reveal herself, and the fact that she’s still pregnant with Henry’s baby, to the shocked scruffy guy. Saying Solomon’s name on the phone to Tyler wasn’t smart, but it seems that it may have been part of her grand plan to make at least one ally that knew most of the truth. In stupid moves, Macawi visiting Matador in prison seems awfully dumb, and there’s nothing like trying to get a guy to recant his fake confession in order to implicate the real person. I’m just excited that Bridget now knows that Siobhan went to Wyoming and should hopefully soon figure out that she’s still alive. The videotape presented to Andrew showcasing Juliet coming onto Mr. C does not work in her favor, but Tessa’s corroboration of her story may send things in a new direction. Andrea Roth was quite vicious in her guest spot as a monster mom who made the real Siobhan look good.
