Emmy Nominees: Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

My predictions: 5/6, picking Andy Samberg over Gervais

I can’t say I’m too disappointed here, since the one nominee I was really hoping for, William H. Macy (Shameless), finally got recognized after three years of being ignored in the drama race. He’s a great choice and truly deserves it, as does Matt LeBlanc (Episodes), whose show managed to pick up a directing nod in addition to this and its annual writing bid. While his costar Andre Braugher did get nominated, Andy Samberg didn’t, which is too bad, though I’m not a fan of the show. It seems that Ricky Gervais (Derek) can get nominated for anything these days, but I guess I’ll have to check out his show first before casting too much judgment. The other three nominees are givens by now, Louis C.K. (Louie), Don Cheadle (House of Lies), and Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory).

Who should win? I haven’t seen any of C.K.’s show or Parsons’ this season, and need to watch Gervais’ too. Otherwise, LeBlanc or Macy for sure.
Who will win? Unless it’s Macy, my money is on Gervais.
