Emmy Predictions: Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series

The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations will be announced on Thursday, July 10th. Please refer to my Emmy musings for this category for a detailed analysis of the contenders, and, as always, chime in below in the comments with any thoughts of your own.

Last year’s nominees: Dan Bucatinsky, Michael J. Fox, Rupert Friend, Harry Hamlin, Nathan Lane, Robert Morse

The competition: Interestingly enough, all six of these actors appeared on their shows this past year, but Fox wasn’t submitted and Friend stands zero chance of being nominated in the supporting race. Harry Hamlim (Mad Men) and Robert Morse (Mad Men) stand a very good chance of returning, and I don’t see why Nathan Lane (The Good Wife) and Dan Bucatinsky (Scandal) wouldn’t be back too. But watch out for a handful of past nominees - Dylan Baker (The Good Wife), Ben Feldman (Mad Men), and Jason Ritter (Parenthood) – and a few Emmy favorites like Beau Bridges (Masters of Sex), Paul Giamatti (Mad Men), and James Woods (Ray Donovan). Also in the running are Walton Goggins (Sons of Anarchy), Elliott Gould (Ray Donovan), Jason O’Mara (The Good Wife), Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), and potential double nominee Pablo Schreiber (Law and Order: SVU).

The predicted nominees: Bean Bridges, Dan Bucatinsky, Paul Giamatti, Harry Hamlin, Nathan Lane, Robert Morse

The predicted winner: Morse
