Emmy Predictions: Best Writing for a Comedy Series

The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations will be announced on Thursday, July 10th. Please refer to my Emmy musings for this category for a detailed analysis of the contenders, and, as always, chime in below in the comments with any thoughts of your own.

Last year’s nominees: Episode 209 (Episodes), Daddy’s Girlfriend, Part 1 (Louie), Finale (The Office), Hogcock! (30 Rock), Last Lunch (30 Rock)

The competition: Look for some exciting additions this year, even if only because of the fact that three of the nominees didn’t air this year. Count on Episode 305 of “Episodes,” while the decision for “Louie” to submit both Pamela 3 and So Did the Fat Lady could hurt his shoo-in chances. I feel like Bondage and Beta Male Sexuality (Community) and Optimal Tip-to-Tip Efficiency (Silicon Valley) might get in on their titles alone, as could A Jailbird, Invalid, Martyr, Cutter, Retard, And Parasitic Twin from “Shameless.” I’m hoping for London and/or Moving on Up from “Parks and Recreation.” Otherwise, watch out for the pilot episodes of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Silicon Valley” and a handful of installments of “Orange is the New Black.”

The predicted nominees: Episode 305 (Episodes), I Wasn’t Ready (Orange is the New Black), Moving on Up (Parks and Recreation), A Jailbird, Invalid, Martyr, Cutter, Retard, And Parasitic Twin (Shameless), Minimum Viable Product (Silicon Valley)

The predicted winner: “I Wasn’t Ready”
