Emmy Nominees: Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series

My predictions: 3/6, missing Caplan, Danes, and Dockery

One silver lining doesn’t make up for the most egregious snub of all – Tatiana Maslany. It’s unfathomable that she wouldn’t make the cut, especially over those who have had plenty of time to be nominated and no longer need to be, particularly Claire Danes (Homeland) and Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey). Forget Elisabeth Moss, who was unfortunately omitted, and Vera Farmiga, who is out of the running after just one year. The one good surprise is Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex), a fantastic actress who has garnered so little recognition over the years and managed a nomination despite her costar Michael Sheen (who received a Golden Globe nod when she didn’t) being snubbed. I don’t blame her for taking Maslany’s spot, nor I do blame Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), who is back after a puzzling snub last year. And then there’s Kerry Washington (Scandal) and Robin Wright (House of Cards), whose nominations were completely expected.

Who should win? I don’t watch Washington’s show anymore, and out of the rest I think Caplan has my ringing endorsement.
Who will win? Unless it was Caplan, which would be amazing, I think it goes to Wright.
