Emmy Nominees: Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

My predictions: 4/6, picking Dean Norris and Jeffrey Wright over Carter and Patinkin

It’s a shame – when I heard that Jim Carter (Downton Abbey) and Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) were nominated again when others were far more deserving this year – I neglected to realize that one of the strongest players of a fully respected show that netted sixteen nominations this year didn’t make the cut as a result. Dean Norris, who was every bit as vital to this season as costar Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), didn’t follow in his show’s tradition of having two actors nominated each year, which is too bad. Fortunately, we did get Josh Charles (The Good Wife) again for a superb performance this season after a several-year hiatus, and Jon Voight (Ray Donovan) as the worthy lone representative of his underrated series. And then we have Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), who has rightfully become a sure thing in this race each year.

Who should win? A tough call – I’d go with Charles or Dinklage, though Voight would be great too.
Who will win? I think it’s a race between Voight and Charles, but Dinklage or Paul could prevail again too.
