What I’m Watching: Minority Report (Season Finale)

Minority Report: Season 1, Episode 10 “Everybody Runs” (B+)

I’m not terming this a series finale because, even though FOX cuts this show’s order down to ten episodes, all but guaranteeing that this is the last we’ll ever see of it, I’d like to think that anything is possible. Maybe a minority report shows this series living a long and healthy life and getting to turn into more of a brooding thriller like this episode felt at points. This episode took the famous line from the movie to capture its characters in a moment of crisis as an increasingly rogue Blomfeld got closer and closer to the precogs while they raced with Vega and Blake to stop whatever terrible future awaited the members of Congress. The flashbacks to a kindly Wally lamenting the dishonest subjugation were helpful in establishing him as a good guy, which made his eventual decision to pull the plug on Blomfeld and his colleagues all the more understandable and powerful. I like that they controlled going into the milk bath and that Vega still got to say her line in a very different context. Blomfeld proved that he was a villain by taking out Andromeda and preparing to sell the precogs to the highest bidder, and therefore his murder won’t be lamented. I like this show and would like to see more of it, and I’m hoping that FOX realizes that this is better than many people give it credit for and has the potential to be great if giving the chance. I’m not sure that hope will lead to anything, but you never know.

Season grade: B+
Season MVP: Meagan Good as Vega
