B Positive: Season 2, Episode 9 “Heartburn, Woodstock and Ribs” (B)
I thought that Gina’s arrest was going to be a big deal and change the direction of the storyline, but it turns out that’s not the case at all. Meredith’s death was somewhat expected based on what’s happened recently, and it’s good to see this show, which isn’t always the most serious, tackle a heart-wrenching issue and execute it pretty well. It was nice to see Spencer show up for Harry and bring him beers along with the unwelcome suggestion that it was okay to talk and maybe even to cry, and Gina got extremely emotional at the idea of losing anyone since the other residents are inevitably going to die at some point. There were still some lighthearted moments, like Peter expressing that he wanted to die in the woods and Bert preparing the wrong kind of food and serving it at the worst possible time. While one resident didn’t make it out of the hospital, Norma is already back on her feet and lashing out at those around her, including Gabby, who wanted to take advantage of her theoretically impaired mental state but didn’t have the opportunity to do so. After Drew had to recount the details of his unfortunate romantic encounter to Gina, he had another invasion of his privacy in the form of an unexpected guest in his trailer. His road tip has been slow to start, but it should be fun to see him try to make it with Harry, who seems much more ready and eager to turn over a new leaf.
