Nominations for the Emmy Awards, honoring the best in television, will be announced exactly two months from today, really early in the morning (5:30 in L.A./8:30 on the East Coast). Some might say that it is too soon to start talking about the awards and making predictions, but I disagree. The eligibility period is from June 1, 2006 to May 31, 2007, which means some shows that aired last summer ("Rescue Me", "The Closer", "Weeds") are eligible, and that some of the final episodes of the season (like the series finale of "The Sopranos") are not eligible. Basically, the upcoming awards are sure to be exciting and surprising, given that 21/40 of last year's acting nominees are ineligible. I will begin posting my predictions soon, one category at a time, and I
welcome any feedback or commentary. I will also start posting my own television awards, to be named later (suggestions are welcome!). I do not presume to hold any sort of superiority over anyone as far as my choices; I am posting them just for fun and to recognize shows and performances I think are worthy of praise. I assure you they will be fun and interesting.
