What I'm Watching: Jericho (Season Finale)

Jericho: Season 1, Episode 22 "Why We Fight" (A-)

What a great way for "Jericho" to end its first season. As frequently used as "flashbacks to happier times" are, they are put to great use in this perfectly titled hour. The spirit of the show and the community of Jericho has been developed so fully and is aptly tied together in this amazing finale. The return of Heather, as well as the less-than-fully-united United States government provides a nice new component for the show, and its ending is a fantastic cliffhanger. It would be so tragic if CBS did not pick up "Jericho" for a sophomore season, especially after this more-than-promising season ender. Rumors are circulating that "Jericho" will in fact return for at least 13 more episodes, probably Fridays at 9pm, replacing "Close to Home" until January. I am very hopeful that the show will be back, and final word will come on Wednesday with the announcement of CBS's fall schedule. Out of any of the new network television shows this past season, "Jericho" is by far the most deserving of a renewal.

Season grade: A-
