What I’m Watching: Dexter

Dexter: Season 6, Episode 10 “Ricochet Rabbit” (B+)

I was worried that this show might allow Travis to devolve now that his delusional tendencies have been revealed, but instead the discovery that Gellar is dead allowed for some decent introspection and a desire to find some new disciples to believe in the cause. Harry’s commentary to Dexter about him talking to someone who’s not there was actually quite amusing, and it’s good to have some comic relief every now and then. Deb provided a bit of that too when Dexter managed to calm her down in the middle of a panic attack at a crime scene, though I suspect that her uncovering of Matthews’ role in her case is going to lead to considerably more stress. Dexter attempting to frame Gellar as still alive is interesting, and rather in contrast to his episode-ending decision to call the police and let them try to help. Batista seems to have been rather efficient in tracking down Travis’ new disciples; it’s just a shame that Travis was there to knock him out and presumably use him in the final display, which is now going to be staged in the police station, which should be interesting, to say the least. Louis telling Dexter that his game was revolutionary because the serial player could be the serial killer, with options including the Bay Harbor Butcher, was such a fascinating scene since it showed Dexter’s shame for what he was, and his fury with someone thinking they know what it’s like to take a life.
