What I’m Watching: Sons of Anarchy (Season Finale)

Sons of Anarchy: Season 4, Episode 14 “To Be, Act 2” (B+)

After such an intense season, it’s hard for this finale to live up to those expectations, but it certainly doesn’t disappoint, even if it’s not the most fiercely strong hour of this year. The most devastating revelation, thrust upon us not once but twice, is that both Romeo and Luis are actually working undercover to help establish the cartel, and their operation requires that the top members of SAMCRO remain out of prison, and that they continue with the businesses in which they are already involved. Linc did not seem too pleased about this, as they ever so directly pulled up on their camp and broke the news. Jax, however, was in outright disbelief, as this means that he’s going to need to stay unless he wants his entire club to go to jail. I’m glad that he was honest with Tara since she wouldn’t have accepted it otherwise, and she seems to have stepped into her role of old lady as she promises that she’s not going anywhere either. Keeping Clay alive is going to be trickier, but this is going to be a very different club with Jax at the head and Opie as his right-hand man. Juice’s secret is safe with Roosevelt, and that cat shouldn’t come out of the bag again anytime soon. I enjoyed Roosevelt’s goodbye to Linc, and they’ve been great partners for the season. This has been one hell of a year, and I can’t even imagine what’s in store for season five.

Season grade: A-
Season MVP: Ray McKinnon as Linc
