What I’m Watching: Parks & Recreation

Parks & Recreation: Season 4, Episode 10 “Citizen Knope” (A-)

Leslie Knope is not the kind of person that takes a suspension, even if its cause was just, sitting down. Her efforts to first steal her files so that she could do work at home and then to organize the PCP were amusing and totally in character, and I loved the subtler parts of it, such as the fact that she and her followers were wearing PCP T-shirts. Her meeting with Chris was funny, composed both of angry threats and the giving of a perfect gift from her to him. Seeing Jerry and Donna run a meeting showed just how ineffective things are without her there, though, truth be told, most of what occurred while she was out was her department trying to figure out a great gift to give her. Ron’s idea of building a miniature office was superb, and, admittedly, Ann’s twist on that to turn it into a gingerbread miniature office was even better, despite the emotional deflation that it inspired in Ron. The whole process of assembling it was very entertaining, and I like that they all rallied together to relaunch her campaign as the ultimate present. Ben’s job search thus far is somewhat depressing, but I like how the show is handling, and bringing back the horrifically boring QuickBooks guy was great. The final scene was especially hilarious, featuring Jean Ralphio admitting that he made up his entire resume and promptly getting fired in the middle of his first day tour of his new office.
