Suburgatory: Season 1, Episode 9 “The Nutcracker” (B+)
Talk about a ladies’ man! George is a fairly understated guy, and to have not one but three women lusting after him is pretty impressive. Unfortunately, Tessa was so entirely unaware of this that she managed to bring the crazy Zoe back into his life, which nearly resulted in Zoe killing Noah, whose attempts to help resolve the situation didn’t exactly go smoothly. I’m glad that his New York City relationship was quickly extinguished since that wouldn’t have been productive for their adjustment to the suburbs, and its quick finish gives George and Tessa some time to appreciate having each other in their lives. Dallas’ cancelled trip with her family revealed her excitement to open George’s gift, which just happened to be something that had personal meaning for her, despite the fact that it was his stock gift for everyone. She still seemed to appreciate it, giving George a big smooch, which she only pointed out after was under the mistletoe when he freaked out. I like the progression of their non-relationship, and I’m glad that, at the very least, they’re becoming good friends. I’m continually shocked by the roles that twenty-one-year-old Ellen Woglom, who used to play Becca’s friend Chelsea on “Californication,”is getting, here portraying George’s third love interest, Aimee, who goes nuts after seeing him kiss not one but two girls. I was glad to see Rex Lee’s Mr. Wolfe utilized in some way, but I think he can do something more productive than trying to hide his competition’s dishes.
