What I’m Watching: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: Season 4, Episode 2 “Meet the New Boss” (B)

It used to be that this show was about people with powers and aliens, and now it’s all about haunted half-dead villains and a man who sold his soul to the devil. As usual, there’s a lot going on here, and so many characters in play. Daisy was fearless and aggressive in his pursuit of Robbie, and his attempt to subdue her didn’t work at all. I like that, after he flamed on and took out the ghost who was trying to kill Mac and Fitz, he decided that he can trust Daisy and that they’re going to be much stronger together since he may well be the connecting link between everything that’s going on. Mac’s reunion with Daisy was not a terribly forgiving one once he realized that she had been in constant communication with Yo-Yo, and Fitz was even less patient with her. While all this action was afoot, the rest of the team was busy showing off S.H.I.E.L.D. to an enticed Congress group tour. I didn’t know who would be playing the new director, and I’m glad to see that it’s Jason O’Mara, a great actor who has starred in so many different shows over the past decade, none of which have caught on. As if he wasn’t appealing enough with his affable style when he was first introduced, Director Mace became infinitely cooler when he revealed that he was an inhuman with super strength and that’s why he was appointed director. His rapport with Coulson seems to be good, but taking May away in what appears to be a very painful situation is disconcerting at best.
