What I’m Watching: You, Me, Her

You, Me, Her: Season 3, Episode 2 “I Said Make Up” (B+)

Well, that was certainly uncomfortable. Emma and Jack are definitely not okay, and hearing them make small talk was extremely awkward. Jack presented a steely front as compared with Emma’s more relaxed one, and they really got into it when Jack asserted that he had nothing to apologize for and Emma didn’t get a side in any of this. Watching them scream and curse each other out was an unusual and disconcerting sight, and of course it was going to lead to them kissing passionately just when Izzy walked in. I had thought that Izzy wouldn’t actually be that upset because she had caused the whole thing and because of the nature of their thruple relationship, but it did catch her off guard after having a moment with her father that wasn’t all that bad. It’s very possible that he isn’t around for nefarious purposes and just there to be a more consistent part of his daughter’s life, but I’m sure there’s something that’s going to disappoint her soon. Nina may be on to something with her thesis, but she is inarguably out of control, threatening to punch customers in the face for making out and tormenting the man doing all her work with an endless train of dates lined up. Carmen responding to Dave’s desperate questions about how to get food without abandoning his children was hilarious, and I’m glad to see that their relationship seems to be headed in a positive direction, one passive-aggressive conversation at a time.
