The Flash: Season 8, Episode 3 “Armageddon, Part 3” (B)
Now we’re getting somewhere. Iris being open to the idea that maybe Barry might be right and that they’re all experiencing a different version of reality is interesting, as is the concept that someone manipulated the timeline to ensure things didn’t turn out as they were supposed to. Despero isn’t willing to consider that possibility, and it’s a good thing that Cecile, however angry she was at Iris for questioning her love for Joe and perhaps because of that, was able to fend him off. Dillon’s attempt to negotiate with him didn’t go well at all, and it’s clear that they’re going to need some serious firepower and proof to beat him. Black Lightning is a good start, and fortunately Barry still had enough juice left in him even after all the work they did together to get rid of his speed. They were just reaching a good moment before Despero showed up, and that should hopefully be enough for Barry’s friends to support him when he returns from that unfortunate glimpse of the future that he just got. It’s hard to know which version of Wells – or Thawne – that was up there about to marry Iris, and it’s even more incredible given the news I read last year about Tom Cavanagh leaving the show, which he doesn’t seem to be doing given his repeated appearances. I’m all for whatever alternate reality this is where Barry is the enemy, and I’m hopeful that the next two episodes of this crossover will be thoroughly exciting and satisfying.
