Legends of Tomorrow: Season 7, Episode 7 “A Woman's Place is in the War Effort!” (B+)
I feel like this show sometimes features the legends just dropping in to some chaos and then leaving without really staying to do anything worthwhile, and then there are other occasions where a more serious and lasting impact is made over the course of their visit. That kind of change to the timeline will, of course, stress Ava out to no end, and it’s unlikely that the legends will be able to return to a present that they know given everything that they’ve done to ensure that history doesn’t happen as it should have. All of the TV I watch sometimes leads to confusion on my end, and therefore I had a sense that we had seen Jason Gray-Stanford’s Staples just recently when he was carjacked out on the road, but then I realized that he had also guest-starred on an episode of “The Boys” that I watched this summer, not this show. He was appropriately condescending and discriminatory for the era, and it was great to see Astra spring into action when she accidentally froze him and as a result got to make some very worthwhile and forward-thinking changes to how business was done. After everything they accomplished, we got a good and expected payoff at the end when Bishop sacrificed his life to let the legends get away and we were treated to the reveal that the team chasing them are the legends themselves, presumably in robot form. We’ll still have to wait until early next year to see what happens next, but I’m excited.
