What I’m Watching: And Just Like That

And Just Like That: Season 1, Episode 6 “Diwali” (B+)

Searching for a new apartment is likely a lot easier when you have an astronomical budget, and apparently Carrie didn’t need much convincing to purchase that amazing downtown apartment with a river view that she wasn’t sure was quite for her. After we heard Seema talking to her father about needing to have her mom use her own Netflix profile, we got to meet the family in-person when Carrie came along to celebrate Diwali and make her look good, like when she heard about the invented mystery doctor boyfriend. I found the exploration of Nya’s personal life even more fascinating, as she found out that her friend was pregnant again and was the recipient of some extremely insensitive and thoughtless commentary. Miranda fantasizing about Che was hardly a surprise after the intensity of what happened in Carrie’s kitchen, and I enjoyed Charlotte’s reaction to the whole thing, including that she had a sex dream about them too and then saying that Miranda wasn’t progressive enough for this sort of thing. I do think that the scene I found most entertaining was Carrie and Anthony’s visit to Dr. Paul David, who was played by Jonathan Groff, recently seen in “The Matrix Resurrections” as the new Agent Smith. Mistakenly addressing Carrie as the patient wasn’t a great start, and though he made up for it by telling Anthony that he’s hot, he did end up having a few too many notes to give Carrie on the improvements she might want to consider.
